Go With The Flow

The majority of tennis coaches think that footwork must be taught in a certain way.

On the contrary, I counsel MTM teachers to show students that attention to the feet diminishes hand-eye coordination.

Focusing on the stroke from day one makes footwork align itself in the most practical and balanced way.

Stand in an open space, or in front of a big mirror or sliding glass door.

Walk a couple of steps to the right, swing and let the momentum of the racket turn your feet back toward the starting point, holding the racket at the finish on your shoulder for a short while.

Repeat until you feel a smooth pivot and continuous flow.

Focus all your attention on the stroke and the rest of your body will move in the most natural way.
