To Split or Not to Split

The split step has been touted as the best tool to be ready to start your run.

It is true, but with one caveat:  as you land on your feet, move your head and shoulders and loosen the muscles on the leg towards your move, so that the body tilts in that direction.

In unison with the above, push on the other leg and drag your leading foot outwards to increase the unbalance that is helping you increase your starting speed.

Practice this without the ball and you’ll gain confidence that your early leaning will not cause a fall
