ONCE A DAY TENNIS TIPS

Don’t Stop

The split-step should not be a stop.  It should be timed with the hit so that you are already aware of the direction you need to move to, landing with more pressure on the outside foot and slight lean to start your move.

Beware of moving your racquet first.  Keep it in both hands to help line up the shot.

Wouldn’t it be better to forget about the split-step and let the body work automatically? I’ve never thought about my footwork, and yet, in rare moments when I become aware of it, I find that my feet do the split-step at appropriate moments.
