How to become certified as an MTM Academy of Coaches Member (click here)

Message to all coaches or prospective coaches from Oscar Wegner:

Over the years I have received requests from coaches who teach using my techniques to have certification procedures. I have authorized, for that purpose, a coaching organization called Modern Tennis Methodology (MTM) to be administered under the direction of John Carpenter, the current Director of Certification and Testing.

This coaching organization will fill a void at the grassroots level for simple and easy Play Like the Pros tennis instruction.

Coaches already certified by other organizations are welcome as well.

The certification includes an exam that needs to be passed with an 80% minimum, with an instruction on those failed points and a chance to take a new exam if you are below 80%. The annual membership fee, which includes the exam, is $50. This year's membership is valid until December 31st, 2010.

For membership benefits go to www.moderntenniscoaches.com

For those MTM coaches in the USA, liability insurance can be through the US High School Tennis Association (USHSTA) at an additional cost of $20 per calendar year.

Best regards, Oscar Wegner

Meet some of our celebrities

(all our pros are celebrities, bringing truth and honesty to the wonderful sport of tennis)

John Carpenter, Director of Certification, with Oscar Wegner

John Carpenter, formerly Encino CA, now at Glen Carbon and O'Fallon, IL.

MTM Pro, PTR Pro Certified. MTM Tester.

John brings a wide body of tennis theory which he experimented with over the last twenty years. Upon converting to MTM and testing it versus other theories, he noticed players using MTM developed much faster, especially when it was not mixed with conventional data. He had such success he was hired by Andy Davis (now at Newcombe’s Academy) to bring MTM to the famous clay courts of Triple A Tennis Club in Forest Park. John and Andy spent countless hours with Oscar on court studying how to teach anyone to Play Like the Pros. He then served as Head Pro at Dwight Davis Tennis Center and was the O’Fallon, IL Parks and Rec Tennis Director where he started the kids off right from the start with MTM. If you don’t see instant results in a lesson, you don’t pay him.

Susan Nardi , Manhattan Beach, PTR Tester/Clinician, USPTA1, MTM Tester/Pro

Susan with Oscar

Manhattan Beach (6 miles south of LAX) and also teaches in Irvine.
Susan has been coaching at every level for 23 years.  Considered an expert on munchkin tennis, she has written articles and speaks nationally on the subject.  Professional accomplishments include:  USPTR national Tester, 2000 USPTA California High School Coach of the Year, assistant women's tennis coach at Virginia Tech, head coach of the Capistrano Valley High School team making CIF quarterfinals each year, and Junior Pee Wee Tennis Instructor at Riviera Country Club.  Susan teaches at Homestead in Irvine, Ca.suznardi@yahoo.com or cell: 310-529-4834.

To Susan Nardi, MTM Pro: "By playing tennis with an open stance I have eliminated all physical pain and improved my overall efficiency on the court.  Before I used to have shoulder, lower back and right knee pain; the “turn-sideways” stance put a lot of pressure on these key body parts and joints.  Now I hit with an open-stance.  This way of playing insures that none of my body parts or joints are supporting an undue amount of stress or pressure.  This is a natural way of moving!  My energy level and efficiency on the tennis court has improved also.  Because this is a more natural way of moving I get to the ball quicker and have better balance which results in a more efficient tennis game.  Before I used to get tired, exerting so much extra energy, now tennis is fun and easy and I play better than I ever have before."  Nicola Mazer, Costa Mesa, CA

Jeanette-Triniti Bhaguandas (known as Triniti)

Triniti was born in London, England. Growing up a Junior Tennis star, she represented Great Britain in numerous Internationals, ranked #2 in the Country from the age of 10 to 16. Triniti won The British National U16 Doubles title. At 17, she achieved a WTA World Ranking in both Singles and Doubles, competing in Pro Tournaments around the world. She then went on to earn a four year NCAA Tennis scholarship to SDSU, graduating Valedictorian in Kinesiology. With an NCAA national ranking of #13 in Doubles and #65 in Singles, Triniti won the deciding match to take home the WAC Conference Championship for SDSU.

Currently residing in Sherman Oaks, CA, Triniti teaches children and adults of all ages and all levels. On court she is full of energy and encouragement and pays great attention to each Individual player.
